amp disclaimer

amp.uk.net is an interactive website for young people in Tower Hamlets, facilitated by Youth and Connexions Services' (YCS) part of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets (LBTH).

Freedom of Speech

In some areas of the site, members, the majority of whom are young people (13-19), can comment freely and take part in forums.

The views expressed are those of the young members, and unless specifically stated are not those of the LBTH YCS.

If you consider any of this content to be offensive or in breach of the amp house rules, you can use the report it function to alert the amp team.

The invitation to comment freely in certain modules is offered to members on the understanding the membership is in part a 'self-censoring' community, in which:

  • free speech is a privilege
  • members agree to the House Rules at the point of application
  • any member or guest of the site is actively encouraged to report anything that appears to be inappropriate or offensive in any way, using the Report it button, with a view to the offending item being removed if necessary
  • a level of conventional moderation should be expected
  • comments which are deemed inappropriate will be removed as soon as possible

Membership

Comments can only be posted up by active members, and there are member-only areas of the site.  Membership is dependent on a verification process, and for this purpose contact details are collected.

amp.uk.net comprises a young people's site, and a youth workers' site. Young people should be aged 11/13 to 19 to be eligible for membership, and youthworkers should be involved in formal youth work with our community partners.  Membership of the two sites is separate, but youthworkers can view the young people's forums.  As young people get older there is a possibility that they may continue to take part in amp beyond the age of 19.  In addition, young people who take part in structured youth work often go on to become youthworkers.  There is a small number of adult users, all of whom directly represent YCS or relevant member organisations of the Tower Hamlets Partnership.

All members are encouraged to adhere to basic Cybersafety within the members areas, as a matter of course.

amp Directory

Information about a range of groups offering activities and services to young people in Tower Hamlets is offered as a searchable directory.  The information is maintained by the activity providers themselves.  Systems are in place to facilitate accuracy of information, but it is entirely possible that the validity and grammatical accuracy of the information will vary at certain times. For this reason LBTH YCS can not be held responsible for the accuracy of this information.  Nonetheless, visitors are welcome to contact the amp team or the providers directly to draw attention to any errors found.

Links to external websites and RSS feeds

Care is taken to check the content of any external site at the time of adding a link to it on amp. LBTH YCS can not be held responsible for the content of external websites. This is because the content of external sites can be changed without our knowledge. Equally, the inclusion of a link to an external website should not be understood to be an endorsement of that website or the site's owners (or their products/services).
