You’re in the right place. Tower Hamlets has a huge range of facilities, resources and organisations to help channel your creativity.
Whether you want to sing, dance, write, paint, mix, act, compose or design, Tower Hamlets youth projects can help. Even if they don’t already run photography classes, for instance, they might be able to help you set one up. Alternatively, find out more about further education courses right here.
The Brady Arts & Community Centre provides a performance space, specialist arts facilities, rooms for meetings and seminars, houses a number of community projects, runs a wide range of classes and co-ordinates the on-site exhibition space.
Also available is the resource bank of equipment for hire to community organisations and voluntary groups.
Every Thursday evening the Brady Centre hosts a “house of talent”, where young people are invited to get involved in dance, drama, script writing, costume design and set design. Contact the Centre for details.
The House of Talent’s latest show, “My Endz”, a musical about a bizarre love triangle, was performed at the Centre in April. Get involved now and you could be a part of the next production.
Also on Thursday evenings (6-8) the Brady Centre has a “hands on fashion” event. And each summer its fashion academy holds an intensive three week fashion course in conjunction with the Summer University.
The Brady Centre can also provide a base for musicians who need somewhere to rehearse, and offers study support to young people doing exam level textiles who have no room at home to do their coursework.
If you’re interested in painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, installations, illustration, animation or making films, contact your local youth project to see how they can help.
If you’re interested in journalism, and would like to find out how to write, research and get published, why not get involved with Amplified?
